Dear Lizzie
I received your most welcomed letter and will now endeavor to answer it. It is a very nice day but it is muddy. We have three new scholars. Their names are Flora Jones, Fred Marshel and Bennie some body. I don’t know who. We expect to go up stairs in a little while. I thought you said you would come up here when your school was out. Can’t you come here next Friday. I shall expect you. You ask your mamma if you can’t come and stay four or five days with us.
Hattie is talking to me all the time and I can’t write any more so she will have to finish it.
Good bye form Mary

Dear Friend Lizzie
Mary said I had got to finish this letter because I was talking to her so much that she could not write. When the roads get better I hope that all of us girls can come out there again and see you. If you don’t come out here pretty soon I will get mad at you. It is pretty near time for my Arithmetic class so I will have to close with a kiss from all of us girl. Good bye. Write soon to both of us. From Hattie Max.
P.S. Don’t forget the straw stack
