**************** Two letters were in one envelope. Both letters were from Cassie Griffin. One letter was dated December 15, 1886. The other letter was dated June 28, 1889. The envelope had no stamp and it did not have a postmark. I don’t believe the envelope ever went through the postal system. The word “stamp” was written in a square at the top right corner of the envelope.
The envelope was addressed to: Miss Lizzie Golden Dennison, Mich Box 95,698,343 In Care of Pat G.
The 1886 letter was written on lined paper 5” wide by 8” high. The 1889 letter was written on lined paper 10” wide by 8’ high. The 1886 letter looks like it is a half sheet of the same paper used for the 1889 letter.
The 1886 letter is one page, front and back. The 1889 letter is one page, front and back **************** Coopersville Mich Dec 15th / 86 Dear Lizzie,

C’Ville June 28th 1889 Miss Lizzie Golden Dennison Ottawa Co. Michigan Dear Friend: Your ever welcome letter was rec’d last Saturday and was very glad to hear from you.,
We are all well, hoping this will find you and all the rest the same.
When I read your letter, I tore it right up. For I was a little hot as you tell about. You thought you was very cute when you wrote that kind of a letter. But it is all right and don’t you forget it. Perhaps I hear about as much about you as you do about me and a darn site more. We will change the subject until I see you again. But I don’t think I shall come down to your house if that is the way you feel. Perhaps I will see you the 4th. The Ladies band is a going to play at the Maxfield House and to the dance if you come, come there, for I think that is where I shall go. I am going to one or the other any way. The L. Band is a going to play in the morning in the Program xx and in the evening for the dance and fire-works. The Boys band (I heard) was going to play at the Commercial Hotel. I think it is to bad that they do not both play at the same place for well. You will certainly want to go the Commercial of course, but may be they will be at the other xxx.
I heard from our folks last Saturday and they are well and enjoying them selves in The North Woods. I get lonesome some times but will have to stand it. They have been gone a month and it seems a year. Just think they will not be home until some time in November. They seem to be very contented, Perhaps more so than I am.
I see Dennis Golden the other day on the street and was very much surprised. He looks as natural as ever.
Is X. Malone at home yet?
Oh! Yes the band went on a big excursion to Highland Park and Grand Haven a week from yesterday with the Lxxxxt Cxxxt band. We had a picnic I can tell you of course.
Well Lizzie as we have got company for dinner and I must set the table I will close. Hoping to hear from you sure next Friday Night or Saturday I Remain Your Friend.
Cassie
