My Dear Cousin,
Lizzie, I thought I would write you a few lines to here how Mary is getting along. I was out home Sunday & thought I could go to see her & we started after dinner. When we got part way the horse got so lame that he could hardly walk & I felt bad to think I could not go. That was the most reason I went home. But when I go home Christmas I will go down to see her if I had to walk & I want you to write & let me know how she is getting along. I haven’t heard anything about her since Saturday when Mary was down there.
So I will close as I am sleepy & it is time to get to bed. Please excuse poor writing and all mistakes.
