Grand Rapids June 10 / 90
Dear Lizzie,
I at last take the pleasure of writing a few lines to you as it is about time that I did for I have been thinking about it long enough.
We are all well and hope when this reaches you it will find you the same.
I wrote a letter to you this morning but did not finish it. Thought I would start another. Well, what are you doing now? I have been busy all the spring but don’t have much to do now. We have only fourteen boarders now. Have had eighteen all the spring. We had quite a good deal to do then.
I stopped going to school Christmas and have not been since. They are going to have a Normal in July and think I will go if they can get along without me. I don’t have much to do but the Chamber work and I do all the waiting on table. I got so used to it that I don’t mind it now. It will not be long before I am here a year. It seems I have always lived here.
Are you very busy now? If not, I wish you would come up and stay a week with me as I am not busy now and your would have a good time. If you can not stay a week, come on Friday and stay over Sunday. But I should think you could stay a week. You could not have a good time unless you stay that long.
Where did you go Decoration? I stayed at home all day. Minnie and Sarah went to the home and had a good time.
They had Confirmation here Sunday and it was lovely.
Mary Malone was up here and stay a couple of weeks. I seen her a few times. I wrote to Mary today, but don’t think I will send it.
Well Liz, I have lots more to say but I want to get to bed early tonight. We never get to bed before twelve and it is most that now.
But be sure and come and see me as soon as you can as I don’t know when I will ever get to Dennison again.
Pa was their today. The first time this spring. It would seem funny to go back there now. I passed through there once since a good while ago to see Emma’s baby and it looked pretty lonesome. I suppose because I was not there.
Well I have been a good many places and got acquainted with a good many since I have been here. Never knew what it was to have a good time before. But suppose I would be as well of if I hadn’t such exciting times.
I was down town the other day and got me a new gingham dress. It is awful pretty. They are all the style.
I got me a black a while ago, trimmed in black ribbons. It is quite nice but I am getting sick of it.
Well I will surely have to close as I am so tired.
Good by Ella
