Dear Friend Liz, I guess you will think I have forgotten to write but there has been no news and I have been putting it off so I thought I would write to night to let you know I am still alive. I was home from last Thursday night to Monday morning. Monday was Labor day. There was an awfully large crowd in town. I went out to the lake in the afternoon. They had games of all kinds out there. I guess you will think I am doing lots of bumming lately. I didn’t enjoy it much though. There was such a crowd I wished I had stayed and worked. I went to Redmond’s Opera last night. They had a dandy play. (Beacon Lights). I wish you had been here to go too.
I hear there is going to be a dance at the Commercial tomorrow evening. I suppose you will be there. I would like to very much but can’t make it. I don’t think I will go home again for two or three weeks.
Well Lizzie, I don’t think of anymore so I will say Good By, As Ever, Let No 70 Crescent Ave Gd Rapids Mich
(please forgive me for not writing sooner and set me a good example)
