My Dear Cousin Lizzie
I now sit down to write to you hoping to find you well as we are at present.
Dear Lizzie I intended to write last week but was to busy so waited until today. Katie and Sarah are going down town to make a mash. They were to confession last night and to communion this morning. They think they are awful good. Well probly they are for toughs. I am glad that I am no tonight. I would not even tell a storie. You know that. Have you had the group taken today. We did not get any of the pictures yet. I wish old Cappy was in Halifax and if that place can’t be found put him some where else. The three boys has started to Elbridge to school. There is no one home with Pa and Ma but Anna. I don’t think she will go to school this winter. She expects a letter from you.
I am glad you are enjoying your school. It is nice for you to have your cousin Mary Malone with you. I don’t think she is quite as hard case as you. Have you papered the wall of your chamber yet. Where the thunder broke the paper. It was very much like the north wind. By the way have you heard from the north or has there been a break out yet. I did not know but the continuous rain was caused by that.
Katie’s fellow still continues to come. He said he was going west with her. She told me to ask you how brick top was. I wish I saw him when I was there. Well a brick top is a good strong top not like Jim Glynn. I think we will try and have our group taken week from today if possible. Cappy told Mary that he sent the pictures. That is over a week ago. I don’t think he did. Katie said she is going to start for home two weeks from tomorrow. I can’t bear the thought of her going. I wish she would stay until spring. I am in hopes she will come back in the spring. She would do much better as she can see her self.
Now Dear Cousin I will bring my letter to a close with love to you and all the friends including Mary Malone. Remember me to her. I remain your loving cousin

*********************************** “Katie and Sarah”: Kate Golden and Sarah Golden (Sadie) are Lizzie’s sisters.
“The three boys”: I think the three boys (Ed, Will & Frankie) are Kate H Cregg’s brothers. See Kate Golden’s letter dated Nov 17, 1891
“Pa and Ma but Anna”: Pa and Ma must be Kate H Cregg’s mother and father. I believe Anna is Kate H Cregg’s sister. I also think Ma is a Hughes and a sister to Bridget Hughes (Lizzie’s mother)
“Mary Malone”: Mary Malone is the daughter of Catherine Golden and Patrick Malone. Catherine Golden is the sister of Patrick Golden. Patrick Golden is Lizzie’s father.
“Katie’s fellow”: Kat Golden married Albert Johnson and I believe Albert Johnson spent some time working on the west coast. So this fellow could be Albert Johnson.
“Katie”: Kate Golden is Lizzie’s sister
“K. H. Cregg”: Kate H Cregg ***********************************
