********************************** Letter: One page, one side Paper: Lined paper, 5” wide by 8” high Envelope: 6” wide by 3-1/2” high addressed to Lizzie Golden, Dennison Mich The front is postmarked Dennison, Mich. Jan 2, 1892 This is not postmark on the back. It looks lie there was a stamp in the upper left corner of the letter but most of it has been torn off. My guess is that it was a 1 cent stamp. This letter was sent from Dennison to Dennison, therefore it would have only required a 1 cent stamp. It also looks like the stamp was placed over the following printed words: “After 10 day return to BOX xxxx Dennison, Mich, **********************************
Dennison, Mich. Jan 2, 1892
Dear Lizzie,
John will have told you that I came out here. Lizzie McG. asked me to drive home with them and I promised John that I would come over before train time. The wind blew so terribly and the roads were so awful that I did not like to ask them to take their team out. I am awfully sorry that I could not see you, as I expected to.
Please excuse scribbling. It is written at a disadvantage, and it is almost train time.
Love to all F. Gertrude Keller
********************************** “Lizzie McG”: Lizzie McGrath lived on State Road. She lived in the first house west of the Fitzpatrick Farm. **********************************
