Dear Sister, - (of the mansion in the hill). Say Lizzy! I’m sorry I threw that potato and if you will forgive me Lizzy, I’ll send you a whole bushel next fall. But we will be living in that little cottage in Dennison then wont we? That is if the fellow in Kalamazoo don’t come back. How is he anyway Lizzy? Any better?
How is Mary and Agnes? I suppose you all passed all right. How much did you stand? I stood 90-2/3 average, only 89 in arithmetic, expected 100% in that. When does your school begin? Is Mary going to teach?
I walked over to school a week ago Monday and walked home again. Just for good then ate about a third of that raisin cake of yours. If some of these sentences should seem kind of disjointed and see-saw, it’s because I have been cutting wood with a buck-saw this forenoon and the music keeps running through my head.
Well Lizzy! Mrs Goodenow gave up the battle at last, leaving a good many sorrowing friends behind. I don’t think it will hardly do to write two sheets the 1st time so good by
