Dear Sister Lizzie:-

I received your letter Saturday eve.  Was very glad to hear from you also to hear that you were having such a swell time as we thought you could have no other, we hope you will not be sick any more during your visit there.

Well Lizzie poor Shep is dead at last.

Tell Father Malone that he will be tired enough of you at the end of two weeks that he will not want you to stay until July fourth next.

Cassie and Stella were down on their wheels last Thursday and stayed all day.  We had a very nice time.  Kate was home and stayed all last week.

Nora and I went berrying this forenoon and got ten (10) quarts.  Pa’s hand is getting along finely, he went to town this P.M.

Carrie Golden visited me last Friday and Saturday the five girls started for Muskegon Sunday P.M.  We will see all of them again before Maggie goes.  She will leave Sept seventh.  I will have to close as Nora wants to write a few lines.  She says I have told it all.

From Your Sister

Sada

P.S. Stay as long as you want to we are in no hurry with you.  “Helloo Mary”

Well Dear Sister as Sadie has finished writing I thought I would tell you a little more news.  We are all well and hope this will find you the same.  Eliza was down yesterday.  She said the girls did not get home but they expected them home to-day.  You said Jim G. was going up there but I saw Aunt Sarah yesterday and she said that she did not think he was.

We were glad you got there in time for the supper and we judged from your letter that you had a good time.

Pa and Ma think it would be very nice for you to go and see Father Dalton on your way home, but you can suit yourself.  Well I suppose you are having a big time to-day taking in the “sights” as you said Father M. was going to take you through the whole country.

Did you sing a solo at Mass Sunday?

Tell Jennie H. that I was quite disappointed when I heard she was there for I expected her out here this week sure, and tell her to write to me.  Sada told you that Carrie G. was down here “well” they are going to have a farewell party for Maggie the Sat. eve. before she goes away.

Will and George went over to Easterly’s dance Friday eve.  Anna Stevens told him that her and Minnie G. would be up next Sat. eve.

Well here comes Ma after me to get the supper so I guess I will have to close for this time.

Mary expects to go to Coopersville to-morrow to help Kate sew.  Kate did not come home Sunday.

Well Good Bye.  Write again.

P.S. We all send our love and best respects to Father M and Mary.  We also want you to stay until you get your visit out.

Nora

Well Lizzie poor Shep is dead at last:  Shep must me the Golden’s dog.

Tell Father Malone:  There were two priests in the family.  Father James Malone and Father Dennis Malone.  James and Dennis were sons of Patrick Malone and Catherine Golden.  Catherine Golden was the sister of Patrick Golden.  Patrick Golden was the father of Elizabeth, Sadie and Nora Golden.

Cassie and Stella were down on their wheels:  Elizabeth had a friend named Cassa L. Griffin.  She went by the name Cassie.  Cassie had a Coopersville address.  I’m assuming wheels are bicycles.

Kate was home and stayed all last week: Kate Golden was a sister to Elizabeth, Sadie and Nora Golden.

before Maggie goes:  Maggie Malone was the sister to Father James Malone and Father Dennis Malone.  (See above)

“Helloo Mary”: Mary Malone was the sister to Father James Malone and Father Dennis Malone.  (See above).  I think Father James Malone was the pastor of a church in Midland and his sister, Mary, was his housekeeper.  Since this letter was addressed to Miss Elizabeth Golden, Midland, Michigan Lock Box 31.  It looks like Elizabeth went to visit her first cousins, Father James Malone and Mary Malone.

Eliza was down yesterday:  Eliza Fitzpatrick was the sister of William Fitzpatrick.  Elizabeth Golden married William Fitzpatrick.

You said Jim G:  James Golden was a first cousin to Elizabeth, Sadie and Nora Golden.  James Golden was the son of Dennis Golden.  Dennis Golden was the brother of Patrick Golden.  Patrick Golden was Elizabeth, Sadie and Nora’s dad.

I saw Aunt Sarah yesterday:  Sarah Josephine Healy was Dennis Golden’s wife.  Dennis was Patrick Golden’s brother.  Patrick Golden was the father of Elizabeth, Sadie and Nora.  Therefore, Sarah Healy would have been Aunt Sarah to Elizabeth, Sadie and Nora.

Will and George went over to Easterly’s:  Will Fitzpatrick married Elizabeth Golden.

Mary expects to go to Coopersville to-morrow to help Kate sew.  Kate did not come home Sunday.  Mary Golden and Kate Golden were sisters to Elizabeth, Sadie and Nora Golden.
