Dear Cousin,

Your letter at hand and at the present time finds me in my own room, scribbling an answer.  My room is a little changed since you saw it.  I have only my own bed in it now.  It is like it was the first night you came.  Yes: Lizzie, I was lonesome after you girls for it seemed we had so much fun all the time.  Of course the next Monday I had two guests for dinner and supper and have had quite a few since.

Edd Burns is coming over next week again.  Father M and Jim want to Bay City on bikes one day before Jim went.  Jim went away Monday night and Fr. Malone went to Saginaw with him so I was all alone and felt real lonesome.

This is Vernon Sunday so I am alone until tomorrow noon, then he is going to Bay City on business about the church.  They are tearing the plaster off from the church so it is a dirty place in there now.  They expect to have it plastered by Sunday.  There is Mass here Sunday but I think we will have to wear our overhauls.

You asked how Dr. Johnson was.  Well; I saw him the other day and he asked me if I was staying in town and of course I said yes, so he asked me to make him a friendly call some day.

I saw the Duff girls yesterday.  Helen is home.  She is going to take Marcella back to Gaylord with her and they are going to room and board themselves.  You know Helen is a dress maker.  I was out riding with Mr. and Mrs. Byan and Agnes last Sunday afternoon.  I enjoyed it very much.  Sade Oneill has a touch of hay fever.  Mary Duff has been sick. She said she had hey fever but they would not send her to Petoskey so she had to give it up.

Mrs. Miller’s pig is, I think, doing nicely.  She washed for me last week and every time she said Miss Malone I thought of you and could hardly keep from smiling.  She said she thinks Father Malone has had the nicest company of any priest that has ever been here.  Of course you know that is only a part of what she said.

My toothache is some better but my face is swollen today.  I had it filled and he had to kill the nerve.  It was all right for a couple of days but I think I caught cold in it and it swelled up.  It was that milliner who trimmed your hat.  I should think you would inquire about him sure.  When I went up to get my tooth filled, I told him I came up to have a hat trimmed, but he did not have his fall styles yet.

I have my glasses but just got them yesterday.  I don’t know whether they will do any good or not yet.

This Midland Fair is this week.  Think I will attend.  I am coming home soon but do not know just when.  I will go on Monday and stay until a week from the next Saturday, I think.  So that will be two weeks and only one Sunday, for it is hard for me to be away from here on Sunday.  Father Malone says if nothing happens, he will come down the last week and be back with me.  Now this is only what we thought at the present time.  Perhaps the church fixing will prevent him but I will go anyway.  With the help of God, I will write again before I go.

I want to be there the Sunday there is Mass – Dennison so let me know the date of the next 2 or 3 Mass Sundays.

How is Will Fitz’s Souvenir, St Patrick did it
